I sent nightshade to poison dusk
with the embers of a candlestick.
And wounded in the darken’d musk,
A Nightingale sparked a fragile wick.
It rattles eastward through furrowed brows
And rests in the cracks of gossamer sails.
On German soil a mourner’s wails
Are heard amongst the brindled cows.
Where time falls blank between the stars,
God cracks dusk’s shells with yellow bars,
And places new Dawn in my hand,
For his seven days are still unplanned.
I sought to climb first light’s tree,
But slipped, and stained the sky with scarlet branches.
And disobeying the heavnl’y plea
Stars fell – Oh Avalanches!
Fractured night breathed its final breath.
…And painted red with holy warning.
In death,
‘I caught this morning’s morning’.
